What are the start times?
8am every day to ensure the checkpoints are in place for you
What about the Ultra runners, what time do they start?
8am the same, however, they will do one of our 6 mile routes after completing the marathon route. This will give you an option to call it a day at the marathon distance or continue on to do the ultra, and enables us to use the start/finish line as the last checkpoint and refreshments.
What is the age limit to enter the challenges?
18 to enter the marathon or Ultra's, and no age limit for the half marathon
Are the routes on road or off road?
All routes are a mixture of both. There are 5 different routes all starting and finishing here at The Academy.
2 new 'ALL ROAD' routes created in 2016 for Spring and Autumn. We may also include at Xmas and Summer at our discression.
How much does parking cost and is it close to the start/finish?
Parking is free and it is on site where the start/finish is

I don't have a Paypal account, how can I pay?
Paypal now accept a debit/credit cards as well as paypal
I am worried about paying for the event so far ahead when I may get injured?
We allow you to transfer not only your deposit but also the full balance to another person (you must arrange this) provided we are kept fully informed before the event.
More than 1 month before the event
In the case that you cannot attend through injury (no other reason) and inform us more than 1 month before the event, we will carry your deposit/balance to one of our following events, or transfer to another runner.
Less than 1 month before the event
If you pull out with less than 1 month before an event you will not be refunded, and we can't transfer the place
Do you issue refunds ?
No - but we can transfer your place - see above
Where can we see maps and routes etc?
These will be posted out to you one month before the event together with your race numbers. You will also be able to log in and see the routes once this has been set up and you have entered the event.
Are there local shops for provisions?
There are 2 convenience stores in Barrow, these are on the main high street and are open from 7am to 8pm weekdays and Saturdays.

Do you have directions from public transport?
We are just 8 miles from Bury St Edmunds and will try to give lifts back and forward to stations etc with enough notice and availability. The events start and finish at The Academy so transport is not required during your stay

Do I have to raise money for charity?
No, we believe that this event is personal and each person can chose or not to raise money for whatever cause they wish to.
Can my company sponsor the challenge?
Yes, of course, please get them to enter you including your name on the application form. They should contact Glen at firstname.lastname@example.org if they wish to become a challenge sponsor
Do you have Insurance for the Challenges?
Yes, we currently carry £5million
How many water stations are there on route?
Roughly 5, which is every 6 miles. There are also snacks, bananas, chocolate, jelly babies, fruit etc, and hydrating fluids from our ever helpful checkpoint marshals.
What is the accommodation like?
We use a large indoor sports studio at present, however, we have also purchased our own static caravan which sleeps 9 (cosy) . If you are full board there will be a bed and matress waiting for you. We also have large tents for communal use. We are also a Caravan Club Certified Location, so if you are members of the caravan club and wish to stay in your caravan you can book in early at £15 per night (unlimited people). This is additional to your entry fee. If you do not require full board but wish to camp the cost is £8 per person per night to cover toilets/showers etc
Is the event site rented?
No, we own the site and therefore can tailor make it to suit everything that our athletes need to enjoy the event fully.
How can I keep in touch with others doing the challenge?
We provide the facility to charge mobile phones and GPS systems. Marshals will be patrolling all routes throughout the Challenges.
What information will we have about the routes for walking / running
You will receive a map and directions for the routes that you have registered for. There are also signs along the route to help you. Please follow the written directions given, these are your priority directions. The ground is also sprayed with paint to help and specific tape through wooded areas.
Can I take my dog?
Yes you can provided they are kept on a lead at all times and are 'human freindly'
What food do we get for full board?
Breakfast in the morning, lunch when you arrive back and a cooked dinner in the evening. Tea/coffee is free 24 hours a day. More details about menus to follow.
Will the event 'sell out'?
YES! we have only a limited space for full board and when all the medals have been allocated the event will close
